BraSouL is a collaboration project for the love and need of more brazlilian music in Miami. Debuting in 2013 at the historical Van Dyke Cafe, Brasoul has been performing mostly in the Miami- Dade and Broward area. Held live jazz residencies at The Eden Roc Hotel, The Regent Hotel, The Palms Hotel, The Ritz and The Betsy Hotel in Miami Beach, featured at the Brazilian Fest 2015 in Pompano Beach, performed in venues such as: The Van Dyke, Ball & Chain, The Stage, The Moca Museum, The Frost Museum, The Norton Museum, Studio 619, The Raleigh Hotel, Lagniappe House, Ball & Chain, The Artisan, The Freehand, Books and Books, Ventana al Jazz in the Gables, The New Yorker and more. Mostly Brazilian tunes from classic brazilian songwriters such as Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Seu Jorge and Jobim are mixed with soulful songs from Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Erykah Badu, Bob Marley or Jill Scott played with capoeira rhythms,
drum n bossa, samba and soul.

Paloma Dueñas - vocals
Paloma Dueñas was born in Mexico City and graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music majoring in Music Therapy and voice, she relocated to Miami in 2001. In 2010, she started collaborating with the musicians in the brazilian community in Miami and all this inspiration plus her love for brazilian music lead her to start Brasoul, a project of mixing brazilian jazz tunes and soulful music with brazilian rhythms and instrumentation. Brasoul has now been playing and collaborating with artists and venues in South Florida since 2013.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Paloma is also an experienced music therapist working with children with Autism and Sensory Integration Disorders. Through her business PalomARTS Inc she serves children with and without disabilities in the community through the expressive arts (music and sensory art ) as a therapeutic way of self-expression and a learning tool.
Paloma has also been part of the yearly International Jazz Seminar in Guadalajara Mexico with Tonica http://www.tonicagdlac.com, teaching the children's music program "Jazz para Bajitos". Marcelo Rosauro - guitar
Born in Brasilia, Brazil, Marcelo was brought up in a musical and multi- cultural household. Having been exposed to a diversity of music from a very early age, he decided as a teenager to follow the path of music. He has learned from accomplished music teachers and performers, including professors from the University of Miami and Florida International University. Marcelo has been performing locally in Miami since 2002 in diverse musical ensembles. He has since 2008 worked as a private music instructor. As of 2013 he has attained a Bachelors in Jazz Performance from FIU and is currently pursuing a masters degree. In addition to performance and instruction he is professionally involved in recording and arranging.

Brian Potts- percussion
Percussionist Brian Potts is active as a versatile performer in classical, Brazilian, Latin, and other popular styles of music. After beginning his studies in his home state of Texas he moved to Miami, where he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Miami. Under the tutelage of Dr. Ney Rosauro, Brian performed and conducted in groups ranging from large orchestras to small jazz ensembles. Comfortable in numerous musical settings, Brian has shared the stage with eminent musicians such as Sammy Figueroa, Bruce Hornsby, Nestor Torres, Sonny Emory, Steve Miller, Jean Geoffroy, Victor Mendoza, Pablo Ziegler, Patti Austin, Nelson Faria, and Ney Rosauro. Brian also performs locally as the vibraphonist in Sammy Figueroa's tribute to Cal Tjader, Sally's Tomato.
A specialist in Brazilian percussion, Brian completed a doctoral essay detailing the work of the innovative Brazilian percussionist Marcos Suzano. He teaches percussion at Barry University, where he directs the Barry Batucada and the Miami Bloco.

Nicholas Petumenos was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He had instruction on various instruments throughout childhood and began his formal study of music at the University of Alaska. He went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree at Berklee College of Music in 2000.
Petumenos sites his involvement as an arranger and performer with the global indigenous music scene and resulting in collaborative contact with artists of many cultures as an influence on his writing, musicality and perspective.
He teaches private lessons and guitar ensembles at Broward College and performs regularly in Miami with various ensembles. With a Masters and a DMA in Jazz Performance, Petumenos considers versatility to be his main instrument. http://nicholaspetumenosmusic.com

JJ - Drums and percussion
Jose Javier Freire was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and started his musical adventure when he discovered the drumset at 10 years old, then studying piano at 14. After graduating from the University of Miami, where he studied film production and music, he founded the group Bacilos, which earned the band a Grammy and two Latin Grammy awards. He can be found working in the studio as a producer, performing live locally and internationally, or mentoring with the GOGO organization in Miami.
